Could you help create a home where someone truly belongs?
Most of us don’t think twice about having someone to share a meal with, chat to after work, watch a movie alongside, or simply know is there at the end of the day.
For many people with disability, life can be full of paid support, but that doesn’t always mean genuine connections, friendships and sense of belonging that make a house feel like home.
UrHome is about this idea that life is better when it's shared.
We’re building a community of people who want to share more than a house. Together, we’re creating opportunities for people to share meals, experiences, friendships, celebrations and the everyday moments that help us feel connected and valued.
As a supportive housemate, you’re not there to provide a service. You’re there to share life, build relationships and help create a home where everyone belongs.
What does a supportive housemate do?
You aren’t a support worker. You’re a housemate, friend and part of the community around someone.
Every household is different, but it might involve:
Sharing meals together
Having a chat over a coffee
Watching movies or sporting events
Celebrating birthdays and milestones
Enjoying hobbies or activities together
Inviting someone into the everyday moments that make life meaningful
Helping create a welcoming, connected home environment
Often, it’s the little things that matter most. The conversations, laughter, routines, invitations and shared experiences that turn a house into a home and neighbours into friends.
Could you be a good fit?
You don’t need experience in disability support.
We’re looking for people who:
Enjoy building genuine relationships
Are kind, respectful and reliable
Want to be part of a more connected and inclusive community
Value diversity and different ways of living
Are comfortable sharing their home with another person
Believe everyone deserves friendship, belonging and meaningful relationships
What matters most isn't what you've done.
It’s who you are, how you treat others and your willingness to share a little of your life with someone else.
Why become a supportive housemate?
Being a supportive housemate isn’t just about what you give.
Many people tell us they gain:
Meaningful friendships
A stronger sense of community
Shared experiences and memories
New perspectives and connections
The opportunity to make a genuine difference in someone’s life
The chance to be part of a more inclusive world
The best homes aren’t built around services.
They’re built around relationships, belonging and shared lives.
